Marva Dawn Spackman Alvey, 84, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at her home in Richmond, Utah. Marva Dawn was born on October 6, 1932 in Richmond, Utah to Evan Henry and Wanda Bateman Spackman. She grew up in Richmond and attended schools there, graduating from North Cache High School. On May 25, 1955 Mava Dawn married Gale V. Alvey in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Richmond, Utah where they raised their four children. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served in the Primary for 21 years, as a Relief Society President and a visiting teacher.
Marva Dawn spent her younger adult life riding horses. She was the Cache County Rodeo Queen in 1955 and was first attendant at That Famous Preston Night Rodeo in 1956. Dawn truly loved working outdoors, taking great pride in her beautiful flowers and well-maintained yard. Marva Dawn deeply loved and was so proud of her grandchildren, cheering them on at numerous sporting events and dance recitals. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend; we will miss being spoiled by her at family and holiday gatherings in her home.
Marva Dawn is survived by her husband; Gale Alvey of Richmond, Utah; her children, Kellen (Adrienne) Alvey of Preston, Idaho; Tony (Shannon) Alvey of Richmond, Utah; Trudy (Brad) Mullins of Vernal, Utah; Galen (Heather) Alvey of Richmond, Utah; by eight grandchildren, Brady, Kelli Ann, Devin, Derek, Dylon, Alec, Bracken, Whitney; and by two great-grandchildren, Shaylee and Kimberlee. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two sisters, Wanda Margene Spackman and Carolyn Fiske.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11 am in the Richmond Second Ward Chapel, 150 S. 100 E., Richmond, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the church and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
