Preston - Marion Hubbard Cleghorn Jr., 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born October 5, 1933, the second of two children in Commerce, Georgia to Marion H. Cleghorn and Ollie Laura Powell.
Marion graduated from North Georgia Military College and entered the US Army after graduation. He served in Alaska, then returned to Georgia where he was employed by the Employment Security Commission in Atlanta. While employed there, he attended Georgia State University in the Counseling and Humanities program. Marion loved and appreciated his family. he loved being included in their activities. Family was his first love, followed by his love of books, music, animals, and sports. He was an avid fan of football and baseball. Marion, while feisty and confrontational, was also the gentlest, kindest man. He especially loved cats and dogs. He loved Idaho, Preston, and especially the neighborhood and home he lived in. He often remarked upon the kindness and generosity of his neighbors.
He is survived by his wife Loretta, of Preston, his daughter Benita (Gary) Roberts, of Smithfield, UT; three grandchildren Whitney Matson, of Logan, UT; Thomas Roberts, and Sam Roberts, of Smithfield, UT; nephews Michael Gee, of Pedergras, GA; and Richard Gee of Blairsville, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Celie.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
