Marilyn Murdock May Riding

Our mother Marilyn is an Idaho girl, born to Gladys and Marion L. Murdock on August 7, 1936 in Sugar City, Idaho. She was the 3rd child in a family of 7.  She attended Elementary in Driggs and Rexburg, Idaho and then moved with her family to Logan, Utah where she attended Utah State University.  While there she met Eldon May.  They were married on May 30, 1956 in Logan, Utah.  As dad received his Engineering degree they moved to California where he was employed with the U.S. Navy.

Together they raised a family of 5.  One son and 4 daughters.  Danny, Nancy, Linda and Mary.  Mom and dad were foster parents taking children into their home and loving and caring for each of them.  They were able to adopt a little girl, Evelyn and she became part of the family.  We were all sealed together in the Los Angeles, Temple on April 17, 1965.

Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.  She served in all capacities, at one time or another, all while sharing her talent for sewing, cooking and homemaking.

As we all went off to our own lives mom and dad were called to the California, Arcadia mission.  Their mission was cut a little short as dad’s cancer returned.  Dad died before they completed their mission and mom returned to Idaho. She was then called on a Welfare service mission on May 8, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  After completing this mission she married Ronald E. Riding on March 21, 2003.  Together they served a mission in Nauvoo and Buenos Aires.

Marilyn is survived by her second husband, all her brothers and sisters, children and many great and beautiful grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband Eldon.
