Marilla Corey Bodily, age 96, of Midway, Utah, passed away 8 April 2010, in Orem, Utah of causes incident to age. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Howard Lynn Bodily, her parents, a sister and brother, a son-in-law, three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Marilla was born 9 April 1914 in Los Angeles, California, to Richard Nelson and Opal Heath Stewart Corey. She graduated from UCLA in 1934 with a B.A. degree in Microbiology. While working for the California State Health Department as a Clinical Lab Technologist, she met Howard Bodily. They were married, 10 March 1945, in Berkeley, and sealed in the St George Temple, 21 Feb 1998.
Survivors include Wydonna (Marlo) Andersen, Provo, Utah; Margaret (Ron) Hunt, Berkeley, California: Marilla (David) Jameson, Taylorsville, Utah; Richard (Alicia) Bodily, Wilmington, North Carolina; Howard (Cindy) Bodily, Tempe, Arizona; April (Michael) Saunders, Taber, Alberta, Canada; 36 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.
Marilla left an enduring legacy to her children and grandchildren of a thirst for knowledge, compassion for and service to those around her, modest living, appreciation of nature and the arts, a sense of humor, and the joy of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 16 Apr 2010, at 2 p.m., Orem 4th Ward, 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah, with visitation one hour before the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Aid or Education Funds of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or to the James R. Bodily Memorial at BYU Development, or to your favorite charity. Interment will be Saturday, 17 Apr 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Whitney, Idaho cemetery.
