Preston, Idaho - - - Mae G. Porter
Preston - Mae Gregory Porter, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Sunday, June 30, 2013. She was born on July 10, 1930 in Mapleton, Idaho to Otto James and Elizabeth Sharp Gregory. She married Tharol George Porter on May 25, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mae was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in numerous callings such as Primary Worker, Scouting, and enjoyed doing a lot of genealogy. Worked with her husband in the Logan Temple Baptistery as well. She was fond of handiwork like sewing and quilting. She loved picnics and camping. Mae was a cook for the school district and also for the Franklin County Hospital for a number of years.
Mae is survived by her husband Tharol of Idaho Falls, her children Shauna (Con) Decker, of Rigby, ID; Roxann (Carl) Owen, of Iona, ID; Rick (Brenda) Porter, of Farmington, UT; and Stan (Carol) Porter, of Evanston, WY; 17 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren, as well as six step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters; Morris (RuthAnn) Gregory, of Preston, ID; Jay (BarDee) Gregory, of Sunset, UT; Darvel (Kathy) Gregory, of Blackfoot, ID; Garald (Nyla) Gregory, serving and LDS Mission in Hong Kong; Elaine (Wayne) Price of Smithfield, Utah; and Janice (Kent) Kindred, serving an LDS mission in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis, a grandson Jerry Hodges, and two sisters Dorma and Karma Gregory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston with Bishop Boyd Southwick conducting. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
