St George, Utah - - - LuGene H. Neuenswander

St George - LuGene Hobbs Neuenswander, our dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died on June 20, 2012 of natural causes. LuGene was born on May 14, 1929 in Franklin, Idaho to Julia Vilate Hendricks and William Parkinson Hobbs. She graduated from Preston High School, Ex-Cel-Cis Beauty School in SLC, and attended Brigham Young University. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she was called to serve a mission to the Great Lakes Mission.

On April 24, 1952, she married the love of her life, Douglas D. Neuenswander in the Logan, Utah Temple. They were completely devoted to one another, and together they raised four children in Ventura, California, and then in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a vivacious lover of life with a wonderfully positive attitude. The principal focus of her life was her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren knew her as their greatest fan. She adored her family and reveled in their goodness, and she could always see the good. She will be exquisitely missed.

LuGene was always very involved and active in church work and the community. She served in PTA, was a member of the Salt Lake Dental Auxiliary Board, and the Salt Lake Council of Women. In the church, she worked in the MIA, Relief Society, and many other auxiliaries. The highlight of her service in the church was the mission she and Doug were able to serve together, in the Kirtland, Ohio mission. Her joy in life was people. LuGene loved people and was genuinely interested in others. She enjoyed traveling to many different parts of the world, and no matter where she went, she made new friends. Her friends, from cousins and childhood friends, to the more recent friendships at her new home in St. George, Utah, and everyone in between, have been her lifeblood. She was always so thankful for the wonderful relationships that filled her life.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Cynthia (Robert) Milberg, Lt. Colonel William (Lisa Lambourne) Neuenswander, Mrs. Juli (Mark) White, Mrs. Heidi (Brent) Wade, seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her siblings, Mr.Tim (Elaine) Hobbs, Mr. Bob (Irma) Hobbs, Mrs. Betty (Kendrick) Morrison, Mr. Michael Hobbs, and her brother-in-law, Mr. Cleve (Pat) Neuenswander.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston, Idaho.
