PRESTON- Lorenzo Pratt Griffeth passed away peacefully in his home on December 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma cancer. He looked forward to seeing his parents, Melvin Pratt Griffeth and Lois Sylvia Daines Griffeth, who had welcomed him into their family on November 27, 1941. He remembered with fondness his childhood on the family farm. His brothers and sisters include Shirlene, Melvin, Gary, Bill, Dennis, and Lois Jean.
His years at Preston High School were a highlight of Lorenzo's life. He loved sports and was particularly good at track. He gained many friends in high school who have remained dear to him throughout his life.
Lorenzo married his high school sweetheart, Sherlauna Tueller Perkins, on February 9, 1961. He claimed she was the prettiest girl in school. The family heartily agrees. This year they celebrated their 50th Anniversary in April surrounded by family and friends.
Lorenzo graduated from BYU in 1966. He worked in agriculture, sales and marketing, was a teacher, principal and business owner. He was an avid basketball player, hunter, hiker, and runner. He loved working outdoors in the yard and garden. He also enjoyed working with wood and animals and observing nature. He treasured the times he spent with family and friends, recalling memories and making new ones.
Lorenzo was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a bishop at Ricks College from 1988-91. Lorenzo and Sherlauna served as couple missionaries in the Temple Square Mission from Apr. 2008 to Oct. 2009. They loved the sisters and couple missionaries who served with them. Lorenzo's eyes shone a little brighter whenever he talked about his mission and the wonderful people he met there.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. He is survived by his wife, Sherlauna, eight children, L. Greg (Angie) Griffeth, Jeffrey Pratt (Terri) Griffeth, John Daniel (Michele) Griffeth, Michael Todd (Kindy) Griffeth, Clint Patrick (Jana) Griffeth, Brian James (Tanya) Griffeth, Jill (Dave) Hamblin, and K'Lyn (Curtis) Thomas. He was also the proud grandpa of 35 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
