Loneta Hollingsworth Fonnesbeck, 90, passed quietly at Legacy Village of Layton, Utah Wednesday the 13th of November 2013. Loneta had been at Legacy in Independent Living since September 21 of 2012. She struggled during that time with failing health but maintained a happy disposition and was loved by all who came to know her at Legacy. She will be missed by both the Staff and the wonderful ladies who lived there.
Loneta was born April 12, 1923 in East Millcreek, Salt Lake County,Utah to Elam Hollingsworth and Clara Anna Hansen, both of Preston, Idaho. Mother lived in East Millcreek and Farmington Canyons during her youth where her father Elam ran the Power Plants for Utah Power and Light. They eventually returned to Preston when her father was assigned to run the power plant there. She tragically lost her father at age 12 when he attempted to save a young girl who fell into the Bear River at the Bear River Narrows in Riverdale, Idaho. Both were drowned.
Loneta spent her teenage years living with her Mother Clara in Preston, Idaho. She attended Preston High School where she was active in student government and held student body offices every year of high school. She was fun loving and popular and had many dear friends that she stayed in contact with over the years. She met Myron Fonnesbeck from Weston at a High School dance, fell in love, and they were married the 24th of April 1942. They lived in Weston until Myron (Mike) enlisted in the Marine Corps during WWII. After boot camp she moved to California where they lived in San Diego and San Francisco until the war ended. When the war ended they returned to Weston where Mike worked on the farm with his father. In 1956 Mike and his brother Norman took over the farm from their father James. They lived in Weston and farmed until he retired in 1985. After Mike's retirement they bought a small home in St. George, Utah where they wintered and then along with many friends from Weston and Cache Valley trailered and traveled throughout the west and Canada for almost twenty years. It was a wonderful time and they had many great experiences and memories from their travel. Loneta was active in the LDS Church and served in many positions in the Weston Ward and in the Stake.
Loneta will be remembered as a woman of compassion and love, a woman of great friendship, hard work, high energy, and always willing to help. She will be missed by many, but has been reunited with so many more, who have been waiting for her to join them.

KaDee and Doug Johnson of Preston, Idaho need to be recognized for the extra love and caring they offered to mother during her trials. A granddaughter could not love her grandmother more.
