Lewiston, Utah - - - Lona G. Holt
Lewiston - Lona Glover Holt, 98, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Family Place in Lewiston, Utah. She was born on February 9, 1912 in Lewiston to Chester Glover and Elva Lona Wheeler Glover. She attended the Wheeler School in the old 2nd Ward school building for grades one through eight. She graduated from North Cache High School and then went to Salt Lake City where she lived in the Beehive House while attending beauty school. She wrote letters to her boyfriend Thulburn Russell Holt "Teb", who was on a mission in Czechoslovakia. He returned home in December 1932.
She and Teb were married November 29, 1933 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Trenton, Utah from 1933-1940 when they moved to Lewiston, Utah and bought a farm. Lona helped with the farm work and was busy housekeeping and gardening. Lona was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings during her life. She also enjoyed attending the temple.
She is survived by two sisters Donna Goodwin (Husband-Duane Goodwin, deceased) of Lewiston and Diane Stevenson (Husband-Wilford Stevenson, deceased) of Sunset, UT; a nephew Terry (Edith) Simmonds and their son, Jordan Simmonds, of Lewiston; a niece, Linda Hyde (Husband Jon Hyde, deceased) of Preston, ID; and her son Kyle (Gaye) Hyde of Logan, UT; and a niece Bonnie (Paul) Mickelson of Maple Valley, WA; as well as many other loving extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Teb who passed away on July 19, 1966, as well as a sister Mildred Simmonds, who passed away on December 13, 2005.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Lewiston 2nd Ward Chapel, 10 South 1600 West, Lewiston, Utah with Bishop Kent Buttars conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.
