Preston, Idaho - - - Lera B. Hansen
Preston - Lera Louise Burbank Hansen, 87, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho surrounded by her family. She was born on June 15, 1926 in Cherryville, Idaho to George Gardener and Violet Chatterton Burbank. She married James Arland "Arkie" Hansen on April 14, 1944 in Cub River, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.
Lera was always a hard worker and worked numerous jobs at Deer Cliff Inn, Knudson and Hubbard Packing, and Pepperidge Farm. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings throughout her life. She served a mission to Birmingham, Alabama from 1999-2000 where she made many lasting friendships. She has always been very easy to get along with and made friends everywhere. She enjoyed handiwork as well and liked reading, quilting, gardening and canning. Her greatest blessings are her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Kenn (Linda) Hansen, of Cub River, ID; Bob (Carlee) Hansen, of Preston; Ed (Ann) Hansen, of Preston; Verl (Julie) Hansen, of Preston; and Louise (Steve) Somsen, of Wayan, ID; 20 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 48 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arkie, and a granddaughter Cindy Harris.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston 3rd Ward Chapel, 155 North 200 West, with Bishop Jay McKenzie conducting. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mapleton Cemetery.
