Clifton, Idaho - - - Leonard A. Povey
Clifton - Leonard A. Povey passed away at his home February 14, 2011. He was born April 14, 1930, the son o Arthur and Martha Fredrickson Povey. He was raised on the family farm and attended grade school in Clifton Idaho. He later graduated from West Side High School.
He grew up with parents that taught the importance of hard work, strong family bonds and service to others. He then passed these values on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family will miss his sense of humor, generosity, patriotism and unwavering love.
Leonard was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He married Lorraine Frandsen on May 5, 1954. They started their life together in Clifton Idaho, moved to Montpelier and Pocatello for a few years and then returned to Clifton farming for 55 years. Family traditions were a significant part of life as we remember many weekends spent enjoying home cooked meals around the kitchen table with extended family.
Leonard is survived by his wife Lorraine and 6 children, Vicky (Joe) McGrath, Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; Walt (Rozanne) Povey, of Weston, ID: Brad (Leiza) Povey, of Clifton, ID: Reed (Stephanie) Povey, of Kaysville, UT; Hank (Melanie) Povey, of Clifton, ID; and Diane Villa, of Phoenix, AZ; he is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings, Lorraine, Dorothy (Zed), Carma (Sylvan), Eldon and his sister-in-law Eloise. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Grant, brother-in-law Don and great-grandson Gaije.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the Clifton 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Lawrell Cook conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new location, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church in Clifton.
