LaRue Stevens Stephenson

LaRue Stevens Stephenson, 92, was born September 24, 1931, in Logan, Utah and passed away in her home June 20, 2024, in Lewiston, Utah. LaRue was the second daughter of Dr. Hugh William Stevens and Belva Cook Stevens.

LaRue was raised in Lewiston, Utah and attended and graduated from North Cache High School. She spent a year at BYU and then she met Blaine at a dance in Lewiston.

LaRue married Blaine H. Stephenson December 8, 1950, in the Logan Utah Temple. They became the parents of seven children: Michael (deceased) (Vicki); Jeri Rasmussen (Duaine); Patsy Crawford (Fred); Paula Anderson (Kevin); Brent (Lori); Janette DeVeny (Dean-deceased); Nancy Tarbet (Greg). Our mom is the proud grandmother of 26 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.

LaRue was an extremely talented seamstress and supplemented their income by making wedding dresses, cheerleading outfits, bridesmaids dresses, etc. She loved to quilt and made many quilts and blankets for her children and grandchildren. LaRue enjoyed candy making and cake decorating. Her love for flowers and gardening were reflected in the way she cared for her yard. Besides raising her family, LaRue worked for Lewiston State Bank for 30+ years and retired as an assistant cashier. She was the second woman in the history of the bank who served as an officer.

LaRue loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many ward and stake levels in all auxiliaries. She served with Blaine as a temple worker for over 12 years in the Logan Utah Temple. She served as a senior missionary for 12 months in the Mississippi Jackson Mission after Blaine passed away.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, three siblings, a son, a son-in-law, and two great-grandchildren. LaRue loved her family and enjoyed many special occasions with them. She will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace Mom.
