Larry M. Olson

Larry M. Olson, 62, passed away January 31, 2025, at Franklin County Medical Center from a heart attack. He was born on September 29, 1962, in Preston Idaho to Marion and Bessie Mendenhall Olson. He was raised in Oxford Idaho and was the youngest of 8 children. He graduated from West Side High School in 1980. He was called to serve in the Auckland, New Zealand Mission. Where he grew to love the Maori people and their culture.

 On November 15, 1986, he married Shelley Hobbs and was blessed with three daughters. He was the best girl dad. He officiated community, junior high, and high school basketball. He was involved with Franklin County Search and Rescue in numerous capacities for many years. He facilitated The LDS Addiction Recovery Program for five years. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a hard worker. He made friends wherever he went. He loved helping people and had the best sense of humor. He gave the best hugs and will be greatly missed. 

 He is survived by his wife, Shelley. His daughters; Jessica, Alexis, and Trisha Olson. His grandchildren; Addyson, Kegan, Koen, and Grace. His siblings; Charlotte Schvaneveldt, Lana Dixon, Kathy Nevins, Keith (Shannon) Olson, Kevin (Linda) Olson, MaryLynn (Ronald) Olson, Julie (Craig) Jensen. His in-laws; Bob and Irma Hobbs. His brother in-laws; Robbie (Kim) Hobbs, Kevin (Trissa) Hobbs, Ken (Sharon) Hobbs, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Marion and Bessie Olson, brother in-laws; Sid Schvaneveldt and Bill Dixon.

 The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and Franklin County Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to Larry and our family during our time of need. We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received. 

 His funeral services will be Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the Franklin Idaho Stake Center, 106 E. Main Franklin, Idaho. Viewings will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston and again prior to the services Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Franklin Idaho Cemetery.
