Larry Asa Beckstead

In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 11, 2021, Larry Asa Beckstead, 83, peacefully returned to his heavenly home with his wife at his side. He was born on December 2, 1937 in Preston, Idaho, the son of Ace & Elvina Beckstead.
Larry grew up in Preston, Idaho and graduated from Preston High School in 1956. In 1957-1959 he served in the Western States LDS Mission which included Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. He was also a member of the National Guard Reserves for many years.
In 1960, Larry married Dorothy Ellen Petereit in the Idaho Falls Temple. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together they raised 6 children and 2 grandchildren.
In 2002, Larry joined with Rounds & Associates and a year later sold his business to them. He loved working with his clients and the Rounds & Associates staff. He was entering his 50th year of being an insurance agent when his health started to decline. The family would like to thank Rounds & Associates for their love and generosity shown to him over the years. We are forever grateful!
Larry, Dorothy and Family, lived in the beautiful Cub River Canyon for 45 years. He loved horses, growing a garden, and working on the 30 acres. For many years, Larry was the water master for the Cub River Acres, Inc. and spent numerous hours working on the water system. In 2019, they sold their ranch and moved to town.
Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many church positions, including Bishop.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Beckstead of Preston, Idaho; by four sons and two daughters, Brett (LaVon) of Preston, Idaho, Alan (Debbie) of Preston, Idaho, Brian (Zerelda) Beckstead of Tualatin, Oregon, Matt (Melissa) Beckstead of Weston, Idaho, Kim (Dustin) Flippence of Logan, Utah and Jana (Mike) Beckstead of Salt Lake City, Utah; by 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and by a brother, Don (Joann) Beckstead of Preston, Idaho.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Willis Leon Beckstead and grandson Scott Beckstead.
The family would like to thank Dr. Beckstead and the Franklin County Home Health for their special care.

Dear Family of Larry,
We were so sorry to hear of the passing of a great man. We met Larry years ago through Cub River as he was our water master for years, he was always so fun to talk to and so knowledgeable about his position there. We know of his values and his family and how great of a person he was.
We wish you peace and comfort from our Heavenly Father at this most difficult time for all the family and extended friends and ward members.
Our Sincere Love and Prayers

Dottie, we want you to know we have been thinking of you since we heard of Larry's passing. What a beautiful life you two had and you were privileged to live in such a beautiful area. Well done, to two faithful servants! We wish we could see you personally at this time, but that is not possible. Please know that we both love you dearly. Our hearts and condolences are with you. From your cousin, Gloria, and her husband, Val Harrison.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. To us as members of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, we know that this passing, although hard at the moment, will not be a permanent thing. Rather, it is just a step, necessary in the Plan Of Salvation, to enable us to be together eternally in the life beyond this one, if we are true and faithful. Larry has taken that step, after living such a life. We soon must follow him. What a joyful scene it will be to be together with family and friends, long departed, in the next life. Kathy and I extend our condolences at this time to my cousin Dorothy and her family, and pray for the Lord's blessings of peace for you all. Rest assured you will both see and be reunited with him again.
