LaRae M. Leak, 84, of Weston, Idaho, rejoined her sweetheart on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Park City, Utah to Linford Sterling and Alta M. Marett. She attended schools in Park City and West Jordan, Utah, graduating from Jordan High School. After graduating, she worked at First Security Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah.
On August 18, 1949, she married her sweetheart, James H. Leak in the Salt Lake City Temple. She enjoyed music and singing and participated with several choral groups throughout her life. Her family was the love of her life and she tirelessly and unselfishly served her family, oftentimes at great personal sacrifice.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints unwavering in her testimony of the Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in numerous callings in the LDS Church including Ward Relief Society President and Ward Primary President. In addition, she and her husband, James, faithfully served in the Georgia Macon Mission and in the Logan Temple. She also worked in the LDS Church's Family Extraction Program. She was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and she enjoyed reading, sewing, painting and crafting.
She is survived by her sons, David (Janeen), Gary (Shauna), Kevin (Jeanne), Tom (Juanita) and by fifteen grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and by her sister.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Weston LDS Meetinghouse in Weston, Idaho. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church in Weston.
