Kermit Lloyd Hodges

Kermit (Kay) Lloyd Hodges age 91, passed away April 11, 2023 in Preston Idaho. He was born January 6, 1932 in Preston, Idaho to Joseph Lloyd and Ada Nessen Hodges. 

He attended school at New Sweden from grades 1-8 and traveled to school via covered wagon with seats down both sides pulled by two trusty old horses that his grandfather Nessen took pride in caring for.  

At the age of 14 his father Joseph Lloyd was killed in a farming accident and he soon learned to take on the role of provider and protector for his 8 brothers and sisters.  He took an interest in farming or rather playing that he was a farmer spending many hours sitting on idle machinery often times trying the patience of his mother by coming in with ripped pants or covered in grease stains.

He graduated from Idaho Falls High School.  He was alway doing what he could to continue his education through various organizations.

He served as missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Northern California Mission from 1953-1955.

He married Maureen Griffeth on August 14, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Dad’s most loved activity was being able to take his family on vacation every year.  

Dad and mom both served a Service Mission to Western Samoa from 1997-1999.  They were later reassigned to the Family History Mission in Salt Lake City Utah.  

Various callings in the church included, Financial Clerk, Family History in Preston, Idaho,  Temple Officiators in the Logan LDS Temple.

Survived by his wife Maureen Griffeth Hodges, children Sheryl (Rod) Ware, Janae (Bill) Shepherd, Kevin (Michelle) Hodges, DeAnna (James) Howard, Laurie Hodges, Kerry (Debbie) Hodges, Karen (Troy) Westover.  Proceeded in death by a son Craig Alan Hodges.  

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Preston 8th Ward, 213 East 2nd South, Preston Idaho.  Viewings will be held Monday from 6-8 pm at Webb Funeral Home 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Preston 8th Ward.  Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
