Kathleen Rose Heppler-Cavit, 70, passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2014 in Fremont, California with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born Feb. 5, 1944, in Ogden, Utah. At age 8, she moved to San Francisco and grew up in the Bay Area and was a member of the first graduating class of Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, California. After servig as a phone operator for Ma Bell, Kathy had a long career in the Human Resources Dept. for BART Police.
Throughout her long and strenuous battle with the cancer invading her body, she remained the strong, loving, beautiful, inspirational and caring person she was throughout her life. She was presented with a Courage Award by the Wings of Hope for Melanoma research in 2013 for her bravery and tremendous strength shown during her long battle with Melanoma.
Her loving devotion lives on through her wonderful grandchildren: Audrey (12), Sadie (9) and Jackson (5). She is preceded in death by her brother, John David and by her mother, Luana Glenn Naumann. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank; by her sons Dean (Bonnie Wolfe) Church; Scott Church; Michael (Melissa) Church; her sisters, Patricia (Logan) Valentine; Lisa (Lenn) Putnam; her cousins, Kathleen, David and Alan; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Rees, Michelle, Ryan, Rebecca, Courtney, Josh and Cameron; and by her extended family, Jolie, Taylor, Joe, Sharyn and Ray.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 42500 Gatewood Street, Fremont, California with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at 12:00 noon in the Franklin, Idaho Cemetery.
