Karol Louise Phippen Anderson, 86, graduated from her earthly life with very high marks and has returned home for a joyful reunion with family and friends. She broke free of the chains that were keeping her from doing the things that she wanted to do on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Preston, Idaho. She was born on September 8, 1928 in Rupert, Idaho, the third and middle child of Wilford Kimball Phippen and Anna Louise (Nancy) Gneiting. Mom moved 16 times before she was eight years old, finally settling in the home she grew up in on South State in Preston. After 16 moves Grandma Phippen refused to move again.
When mom was in high school, she was in the Phi-Dels and several other extracurricular activities in addition to being a good student. Mom also met her sweetheart Valgene Stanley (Gene) Anderson in school. She graduated from Preston High School in 1946 and married her sweetheart on February 2, 1948 in Preston, Idaho.
Karol Lou was very active in the LDS Church and served in many callings throughout her life. She served in the Primary as a Nursery Leader, in the Relief Society as a counselor and for many years doing extraction work, but her favorite callings were with the Young Women as both a teacher and in the Presidency of the Young Women. Mom was a very hard worker her entire life. She was a waitress for many years at the Franklin Cafe and worked as a secretary at the Court House. She retired from the Federal Land Bank. After her retirement, mom and dad became "snow birds" and spent many winters in St George, Utah where they made many wonderful friends.
Mom had a passion for quilting, gardening and hand work. She made hundreds of beautiful quilts and always had a very well manicured yard with many beautiful flowers. She was known by many in her later years as the "pretty lady" which is a name that fit her because she loved beautiful things. Mom is having a wonderful reunion with her sweetheart, her parents, her younger brother Donald, and her grandson Derek. Many other family members and dear friends are also enjoying a reunion with mom.
Mom temporarily leaves behind her four children Vicki Harris, Michael (Kim) Anderson, Steven (Becky) Anderson, and Scott and Robin (Anderson), as well as eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Zola Mae (Demont) Lott, Gwen Lott, and her brother Duane (Julia) Phippen and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you mom for all you taught us and for the wonderful example you were to us your entire life. We love you very much.
