Kaleen A. Higgins

Our beautiful and loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, and friend Kaleen A. Higgins passed through this life to return to her heavenly home on May 31st, 2022. She was surrounded by the love, joy and laughter of her family who loved and cherished her.

Our Mom was born July 11th, 1937, in Logan, Utah to Frank and Grace Johnson. She was the fourth of six children. She grew up in a small farming community where she loved to play softball and sew outfits for fashion shows or blankets for newly baptized children. She met the love of her life, our beloved Dad, Larry D. Higgins, but didn’t realize that until she moved to Salt Lake to work, where they rekindled their relationship. They were married on April 18, 1958, in the Logan Temple.

She was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings throughout her life. She had a deep love for her faith that never wavered. Her love of the Gospel and her faith in the Eternal Plan helped her remain strong as she looked forward to her reunion with her eternal companion.

Mom and Dad lived in Petaluma California, Thatcher Idaho, Bountiful Utah, St George, Utah, and Cleveland Idaho. Idaho was the place that they loved the most and felt like it was home to them. Mom found solace in gardening, reading, going for rides around the country and loving and caring for their home in Cleveland. Wherever she was, she was never idle. You could always find her working out in the yard, which was always immaculate. Her garden was full of vegetables along with her pampered raspberry patch, which were bottled, canned and made into jam for the winter months. She loved canning.

In her retirement years, She and Larry have enjoyed the last 24 years living and traveling between St George, Yuma Arizona and finally settling full time in Cleveland Idaho that both loved dearly and was proud of what she had help built for them, and their family.

Kaleen is survived by her daughter, Cindy, by her son, David and his wife, Melanie; by a daughter -in-law, Katie Higgins; and by her 15 Grand Children and 30 Great Grand Children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry D. Higgins; by her son, Nathan Larry; by her parents, Frank and Grace Johnson; by a sister, Betty Roper; and by two brothers, Lee Johnson and Val Johnson.

Kaleen has left a great legacy as well as MANY wonderful memories with her family, friends, neighbors and just about anybody she came in contact with.  She enjoyed many outings with Dad over the years.

Mom hung in there for two months after Dad’s passing to allow us to have the time we needed to be with her and talk and reminisce about the good times we have living in different parts of the country.
