Joseph Lloyd Walker was born into this world on 09/08/1989 and passed into eternal life on 11/13/2023. He was living in Vernal, UT when he passed away.
As a child Joseph was raised by his father Robb Walker and his mother Kristie Bullard in the Clearfield area in Utah. Joseph was a very energetic and curious child. He quickly showed his intelligence by learning how to play chess with his father at the age of 4. He went through school and graduated from Clearfield High School. In high school Joseph excelled in Art, he ran cross country, and was the best chess player in the chess club. Joseph graduated with high GPA.
After graduation, Joseph served a full time LDS mission in Geneva, Switzerland. He came home fluent in the French language.
After his mission, Joseph joined the United States Army and served as Airborne Special Forces, First Battalion, 3rd group at Fort Bragg, NC. He was a 35P/Cryptologic linguist, French. He received two Combat Action Badges for “actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy”. He served in combat for operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan, and for operation Juniper Shield in Africa (four different deployments from 2014-2019). He logged over 20 sorties combining to over 250 hours logged in flight time. He was awarded the ‘Army Commendation Medal’ for his dedication to duty and selfless service to himself and 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). His actions, under enemy fire, lead directly to 450 operators on the ground getting real time, vital tactical interception, and decryption of messages from the enemy. Joseph left the military with a general Honorable discharge but left prematurely due to ongoing emotional and physical problems.
His family is proud he served an LDS mission and served Honorably in the United States Army.
Services will be at the Richmond Cemetery at 350 N 200 E, Richmond, UT 84333, at 11:00 am, on December 7th, 2023. Webb funeral home in Preston, Idaho is assisting the family in placing the remains in the same grave of Joseph’s grandfather, Jesse Lloyd Walker Jr.
Joseph is preceded in death by a Grandfather Jesse Lloyd Walker Jr., Grandparents Les and Genevieve Bullard, and a sister Krystal Dawn Walker. He is survived by his parents Robb and Kristie Walker, his three sisters, Meriah (Ashton Holley), Kara (Nathaniel Giauque), and Genevieve (Brandon Matamoros), his Grandmother, Vergene Walker, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Joseph was not eligible for any VA burial benefits; therefore, the family is asking for contributions to offset the cost of the funeral. Any extra monies collected by the family will be given to Veteran’s suicide prevention programs. If anyone is struggling with mental or emotional health, please call 988 to seek help.
