Johnathon "Johnny" Lee Braaksma

Johnathon Lee Braaksma, 38, passed unexpectedly in the early morning of February 24, 2025. 

Johnny had an untamable spirit and lived his life with passion and generosity. His true love was his music. From an early age, he began mastering every instrument he came across and was constantly trying to find his perfect "band". He loved the drums and playing bass above all.

During his life, he overcame many obstacles to achieve his goals, including completing his education after surviving and making a full recovery from a coma in his early 20s. 

Johnny loved his family more than anything. His mother was his best friend, and he was a protector for his little sister and two children. He was an animal lover and fierce friend.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alice and Russell. He is survived by his parents - Lisa & Louis, his siblings - Tiffany, Sharlee, & Brandon, and his two children. 

Gone far too soon but never forgotten. As long as we're living, our Johnny you'll be, and you will always be our sunshine.

There will be a private family service held in Iowa at a later date.
