Preston, Idaho - - - J. Marvin "Marv" Priestley
Preston - John Marvin "Marv" Priestley, 71, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born on September 4, 1939 in Linrose, Idaho to Heber Chase "Roy" Priestley and Ida Florence Davis. He married Brenda Judy Smart on March 17, 1961 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized on July 31, 2009 in the Ogden Temple.
Marv was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was the owner and operator of Marv's Burial Vaults in Preston, Idaho for 32 years. He could always be seen on his tractor tilling gardens, mowing fields, or pushing snow until his health prevented him from doing that anymore. He was also a Cub Master for the Cub Scouts for a number of years. He served in the US Army from 1962-1964 and served another six years in the Army Reserve.
He is survived by his wife Judy, of Preston; four sons Ronald (Tam) Priestley, of Ionia, IA; Paul (K. Lea) Kelley, of Ogden, UT; Brad (Susan) Priestley, of Preston; Greg (Kara) Priestley, of Preston; 19 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a sister Beth (Bob) Mendenhall, of Thatcher, ID; three brothers, Leon (Marilyn) Priestley, of Preston; Wayne (Peggy) Priestley, of Franklin, ID; and Frank (Susan) Priestley, of Franklin, ID.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East 1st South in Preston. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
