Sunnyvale - John Gary Martin, 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sunnyvale, California. He was born on August 18, 1950 in San Jose, California, to Marion B. Martin and Melba Juassi. After high school he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Manchester, England.
John loved baseball. He loved to play baseball and had an extensive collection of baseball cards. He was a real genuine person and was very happy-go-lucky. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a collector of many things, baseball cards, coins, and trains.
Jon is survived by his mother, Melba Martin, of Preston, ID; a sister Sharan Martin, of Preston; a brother Jerald L. (Gemie) Martin, of Plano, TX, currently serving as President of the San Fernando, California Mission; sister Nadine Martin (Brian Coburn) of Los Gatos, CA; and sister-in-law Sallie Martin, of Nibley, UT. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends, including his adoptive family in Sunnyvale. He was preceded in death by his father Marion, and a brother Kenneth Martin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Paris, Idaho cemetery at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
