Joanne Richey Davis (1980–2023)

Joanne Richey Davis, of Syracuse, Utah completed her eleven and half year battle with brain cancer on Dec 10, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Ogden, Utah on September 20, 1980, to Stephen and  Georgia Richey.  Joanne had fond memories of spending time with family at their mountain cabin.  She graduated from Ogden High School in 1999 with high honors, and Weber State University in 2005 with a BS as the Outstanding Graduate in Business Management.  She worked in the mortgage industry for many years. Joanne studied piano for 10 years and became an accomplished pianist performing in numerous recitals. She accompanied numerous plays at Ogden High and enjoyed teaching piano to several students.  She loved athletics, competing in gymnastics, track and volleyball.

Joanne met the love of her life, Garrett W. Davis, at the WSU institute and they were married in the Bountiful Utah Temple on September 15, 2006.  They have four amazing and beautiful children, Emily (16), William (14), Samuel (11), and Ephraim (4).  Joanne was a talented cake designer.  She created gorgeous cakes for birthdays and weddings, even making their own wedding cake. She enjoyed writing her personal history and kept yearly journals of her family.  She made yearly calendars for their families.

Joanne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many positions, her favorite being the ward organist. She served in the Rio de Janeiro Brazil North Mission from 2004-2005.  She enjoyed sharing her beautiful testimony whenever she had the opportunity.

Joanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Ethel Lloyd Richey and Ben and Afton Bawden Ricks.  She is survived by her parents Stephen and Georgia Richey, siblings Natalie (Dale) Packer, Carl (Sarah) Richey, Keith (Maureen) Richey, Craig (Lorianne) Richey, Ken (Shanda) Richey, Ben (Marisa) Richey, and Angela Richey.  She is also survived by her in-laws Gary and Jan Davis.

She received loving help from her family during treatments for radiation and chemo. She was driven regularly to the Huntsman Institute. Family and friends helped with transportation, childcare, meals and encouragement. We express deep appreciation to Jan Davis (Mother-in-Law), the Hospice CNA support, the Criddle Farms Ward, and countless family and friends for assisting with the loving constant care of her and her family.
