Fairview - Jay Bryce Jensen, 83, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. He was born on April 13, 1931 in Weston, Idaho to John Virgil and Elly Jacobsen Jensen. He grew up working on the family farm, milking cows and tending the fields. He participated in boxing during high school and Graduated from Preston High.
He married Helen Bodily on June 2, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised four children and taught them the same standards and ethics he was taught by his parents. He loved all of his family. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully as Bishop, Stake President, and a home teacher. He has always possessed a strong testimony of the Gospel.
Bryce owned an airplane and loved to fly and take people up in the plane for rides. He was a member of the Preston School Board. He was a member of the Franklin County Grain Growers, and the Preston/Whitney Water Company, as well as Farmers Grain Co-op. Bryce has always been respected in the community and was known for his honesty and integrity. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his four children Bradley (Christine) Jensen, of Preston, ID; Janis (Brent) Hall, of Layton, UT; Kathryn (David) Brinton, of South Jordan, UT; and Brian (Daphne) Jensen, of Fairview; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a brother Floyd Jensen of Fairview, and a sister Faye (Ron) Bell, of Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, and a brother Earl.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview 2nd Ward Chapel, 165 West 4800 South in Preston. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Heritage Home and Access Hospice for the kind and loving care given to Bryce. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the LDS Church missionary fund.
