Janet Crookston Profaizer, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 23, 2025. She was united with her eternal companion after only one month of being apart. Janet was born in Preston, Idaho, to Spencer Cleveland Crookston Jr and Elsa Leah McQueen on April 6, 1955, a birthday she enjoyed sharing and celebrating with her mother. She had three brothers, Nick, Larry, and Steve and two sisters, Leah Ann and Eliza. She grew up and attended school in Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School, Class of 1974. After high school she attended Hollywood Beauty College, where she learned the skills to bless and beautify many lives, her mother being her number one client.
She married Douglas Ray Profaizer on November 22, 1975, in the Logan Utah Temple. They were blessed with four children Adelia, Candace, Sterling, and Bracken. Janet tried her hand at a couple different occupations, ultimately retiring as a school cook so she could care for Doug when he became diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2014.
Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Serving in many different capacities in primary, young women’s and visiting teaching. Having family prayer, scripture study, and temple attendance were of highest priority to her. Her testimony continued to grow as she studied daily for hours, even though Doug’s health challenges and inability to attend and serve in her home ward.
Janet loved spending time with her grandkids. Every time they came to visit, she would pull out her coloring books, games and puzzles and she played and taught alongside them. Connecting with each one of them in her own special way. Janet very humbly and quietly shared her many talents, such as: artist, seamstress, cook, beautician and a green thumb. She enjoyed her plants and loved the challenge of trying to grow anything from pineapple to avocados.
Janet was always selflessly serving others. She was meticulous about how she cared for her home, her yard, her finances and most of all her family. Anything she did, she did with great care and love. It didn’t matter who you were, she made you feel important and loved We will miss her greatly and find comfort knowing we can be together again.
Janet is survived by her children; Adelia (Moose) Mountcastle of Smithfield, Utah and their children Keitha Kerrin, Nelson, and Keegan; Candace (Jeremiah) Duersch of Nibley, Utah and their children Kiley (Caden and son Ira), Keslie (Ethan), Payton (currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission), Jacey, and McKay; Sterling (Haylee) Profaizer of Grantsville, Utah and their children Titan, Tynlee, Trek, and Tenysen; Bracken (Brittany) Profaizer of Wheatland, Wyoming and their children Bronson and Bryndle. Her Brothers Nick (Gerry) Crookston, Preston, Idaho; Larry Crookston (John Buker), Preston, Idaho; Steve (Stephanie) Crookston, Franklin, Idaho; and Sister Eliza (Carter)Talbot, Logan, Utah.
