Janet D. Pearson, 89, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Fairview, ID. Janet was born on January 13, 1935, in Weston, ID to Louis Arnold and Leta Jensen Davis. The fourth of nine children, she spent most of her childhood helping her mom with household chores and playing with cousins who lived next door. When she wasn't playing, Janet would gather and candle eggs from her family's 300 chickens which they then sold in town. Janet carried a love for family and togetherness throughout her life.
On April 24, 1959, Janet married her sweetheart, Frank Howard Pearson. They happily spent the next 65 years together, setting a golden example of true love. They had three children: Jerry, Wendy, and Randy. Later in life, Janet was overjoyed and blessed to reunite with her daughter Deborah Meyer and stepson, Craig Heningner. She embraced them with all her heart and cherished the moments she was able to spend with them, making up for lost time.
Early in life, Janet worked as a seamstress at Logan Knit with a starting wage of 75 cents an hour. A few weeks later the Interstate Commerce Law was passed and her wages increased to a dollar an hour. She thought she was rich! She later worked as a cashier at local grocery stores. She was fortunate enough to spend most of her years raising her children and making lots of memories with her grandkids. For her grandkids, there was no bigger treat than to spend time at Grandma’s house. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Janet was more than a grandmother; she was a source of endless joy, laughter and creativity. Her home was a sanctuary of love and comfort filled with memories for everyone. She delighted in her home being filled with the laughter of children playing. She made everything fun by creating playful activities and moments that will stay close to our hearts forever. Her great grandchildren called her Grandma Butterfly because of the many butterflies decorating her home.
Janet enjoyed traveling and shopping. She often found unique salt and pepper shakers for her extensive collection while on trips. Janet loved visiting the Oregon coast with family, especially her cousins and enjoyed playing the occasional practical joke on them. She found joy in the simple things, enjoying a warm laugh or simply spending time with loved ones. Janet found that her love extended to all things creative early in life. She was an accomplished seamstress, an excellent cook, an imaginative artist and crafter. She openly blessed those around her with her many talents. Her creativity and warmth shone through her art and handcrafted projects. This love of art was passed down to many others and gifted through things such as homemade Christmas ornaments for each grandchild. The excitement of receiving their new ornament each Christmas is a cherished memory
She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved attending the temple with sisters in her ward. She also delighted in traveling to visit new temples. She selflessly devoted her time and talents serving in church callings including Primary teacher, Relief Society teacher and ward Relief Society president. Janet had a sharp memory and could always recall stories, dates and all of the small details. She spent 89 years in this life but when asked, she was 39 forever. Even though we mourn her passing, she will always be remembered for the light and love she brought into our world.
Janet is survived by her husband, Frank Pearson of Fairview, ID; daughter Wendy Eck (Ken) of Meridian, ID; son Randy Pearson of Pocatello, ID; daughter Deborah Meyer (Phil) of Aloha, OR; daughter-in-law Ruth Heninger of Corvallis, OR; brother Lyle Davis (Nancy) of Rigby, ID, brother Dean Davis (Lily) of El Dorado Hills, CA; ; sister Sharon Kofoed of Weston, ID; sister Julie Onefeather of Sanger, TX; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Craig Heninger (son).
