Helena, Montana - - - Janeal R. Hansen

Helene - Janeal Rosetta Cazier Hansen passed away May 16, 2011 at the age of 83 in Helena, Montana. She was born August 15, 1927 in Compton, California, the second child and only daughter of Vordis Reo Cazier and Mabel Rosetta Andersen. Her early years were spent in Preston, Idaho, where in addition to church and school activities, she worked on the family farm, thinning and topping sugar beets and driving grain trucks during harvest. While attending Utah State University, she met Grant A. Hoffman. They were married November 14, 1946 and moved to the Bay Area of California. Grant passed away in 1955. Janeal and her four young children moved back to Preston the following year. Through a mutual friend, Janeal was re-introduced to a former Preston High classmate, John C Hansen. They were married November 7, 1958 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the family ranch in Toston, Montana where four more children were born.

Janeal was very involved in the activities of the ranch, providing meals for the family and the hired help, picking up needed machinery parts, helping move cattle to new pastures, and sometimes jumping aboard a tractor. She spent many hours driving her children to and from church and school activities, music lessons, and early morning seminary. She served faithfully in numerous church callings while at the same time supporting her husband during the 11 years he served as the President of the Three Forks, Montana Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1977 the family moved to Townsend, Montana. John and Janeal returned to Preston, Idaho for their later years, and recently returned to Montana to live in Helena in the fall of 2010.

Janeal is survived by her husband and eight children, Michael Hoffman (Patty), Shelley, ID; Wayne Hoffman (Pauline), Helena, MT; Marilyn Manwill (Alan), Taylorsville, UT; Deanna Hoffman, Helena, MT; Marian Mallard (Richard), Rexburg, ID; Johnny Hansen, Townsend, MT; Pamela Helmick (Dean), Plattsmouth, NE; Geraldine Lavinder, Helena, MT; her brother, Boyd Cazier, Toston, MT; 23 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and by brothers, Don and LaGrand.
