James Thomas Winward

James Thomas Winward was the first child born to his parents, Thomas and Cynthia Winward on November 18, 2010 in Yuba City, California. James suffered a brain injury which caused him serious struggles throughout his life. He attended school at the Virginia School in Wheatland for a few years. But then his health made it impossible for him to go. James had a smile that drew everyone to him. The hospital staff came to love James and his smile would make their day. His nurses also loved him and took good care of him. James loved music and hearing stories. He loved his mom and dad and brothers and sister. HIs mother was there for him every day.  He laughed when he would hear his dad getting home from work. He loved it when people rubbed his head.  His grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins loved to have James there with them. 

Although James suffered a great deal, he also brought a great light to those around him. We wondered at times if the angels were talking to him. On February 11, 2023, James heard the angel song and went with them. Through his death he was able to touch even more lives by giving two others the gift of life through the blessing of the donation of his kidneys. He is dearly missed by his parents, Thomas and Cynthia, brothers Samuel, Nova, and Danerick, and his sister EveeLynn. His grandparents, Patrick and Dianne Sterling of Texas, Calvin and Cathy Winward of Idaho, and Great-Grandma Gail Sterling of California.

The funeral for James will be held on February 18, 2023  at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Clifton Idaho, 170 West, 1st North at 12:00 pm The burial will be in the Dayton, Idaho Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held February 25, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Beech St in Fort Worth, Texas from 4-6 pm.
