James Thomas Ethington

James Thomas Ethington, 76, passed away on the morning of March 20, 2025, peacefully and quietly at his home in Preston, Idaho with family by his side. He was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Mesa, Arizona, the son of Clarence Eugene Ethington and Lillian Blanch Goins. He served mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Sacramento Mission. He married Darla Jean Richey on Sept. 4, 1975, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2001.

He was a husband, friend with friends, spiritually sharing with all who would listen, a missionary, farmer, dairyman, diesel driver, hard-working, humble man with more qualities viewed by others.

He was able to lead an alright, good life as most would say. He had a great love for woodworking. He was always there to listen and help when he could as his daughters would call up to talk at times. He will always and forever be in our hearts and never forgotten in our minds. Enduring his final days, he is on to better and greater eternal purposes now. We love you Dad!

He is survived by three daughters, Shayla Florie, Shauna Giovanni, Shaylynne Brooke (Matthew) Hansen; by seven grandchildren; by a sister, Linda Richardson; and by a brother, John Ethington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darla; by a sister, Shirley Jones; by a brother, Norman Ethington.

A viewing will be held on Sat, March 29, 2025, from 2-2:45 p.m. in the Dayton Ward Chapel, 825 N. Westside Hwy, Dayton, Idaho. The graveside dedication will be at 3 p.m. in the Dayton Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
