Jacquelyn Geddes Anderson

Jacquelyn Geddes Anderson, 83, passed away January 16, 2012 in St. George, Utah.
Jackie was born March 17, 1928 in Banida Idaho, to Robert William and LaPreal Geddes. She was raised on a farm and later moved into town. She graduated from Preston High School. She attended one semester at BYU and then went on to graduate from Utah State with her teaching degree in elementary education. She met Bill Anderson at Utah State and they fell in love and were married March 16, 1949. She and Bill moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. When Bill was called to serve in the Korean War, she moved home to Preston with their baby girl and lived with Grandma and Grandpa. While in Preston, she taught at the elementary school. When Bill returned home, they returned to Idaho Falls, where their baby boy, Tod, was born.
In 1956, they moved to Salt Lake City. They built a home on Scenic Drive, where they grew a part of a close knit neighborhood and ward family. They developed many friendships that were an important part of our lives. Mom taught 4th grade for one year and then returned to being a full time mom.
Mom served in many church callings in the Monument Park 11th ward. She was in Primary, Relief Society and Mutual presidencies. Mom was always a faithful member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In 1964, another baby girl came into our family. A few years later, our parents divorced and mom continued to live in the same area and raise our sister. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Salt Lake City School District. She enjoyed going to her grandsons many football, baseball and basketball games. Whenever we needed a babysitter, we could always count on help from our mom. She spent many hours with her seven grandsons. They all remember the songs, she would sing to them at night before bed.
In the later years, mom moved to Naniloa Drive and again found wonderful neighbors and friends, especially Judy Gertino, who lived next door and was a dear friend. In 2008, mom moved to St. George. She fought a good battle with dementia and suffered a great deal in her last years. Although, she couldn't remember, we remember her. We want to thank the loving care givers at Beehive homes, memory care for all they did for her, right up to the end.
Jackie is loved and will be missed by her son Tod and her daughters, Debbie and Jodi. She will be greatly missed by her seven grandsons, Jared, Willie, Matt, Cody, Brady, Nick and Travis and her 8 great grandchildren, her youngest sister, Barbara Compeau and many others who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Colleen Campbell.
Our mother will be laid to rest beside her parents, in Preston, Idaho on January 21, 2012.
We love you Mom! We love you Grandma! Always watch over us!
