Logan, Utah - - - Jack Van Johnson
Logan - Jack Van Johnson, loving father and caring husband, passed away September 4, 2010 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah at 7:10 AM. He was born in Preston, Idaho September 9, 1941 to George and Ora Johnson. He grew up at Stock Valley Ranch in Treasureton and is the youngest of five children. He graduated from Preston High school as student body president and valedictorian. He later attended Idaho State University and received his Doctorate of Arts in Mathematics. In 1964, he began teaching at the Church College of Hawaii, where he would meet his eternal companion Cassandra Hom. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple May 31, 1968. He retired from BYU-Hawaii after nearly 38 years as a teacher and administrator. Throughout his life he was dedicated to his family, the gospel, and service to others. He is survived by his wife, Cassandra, 7 children, and 24 and one half grandchildren. The Johnson Family would like to express appreciation for all the support they have received.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street in Preston. A viewing will be held on Monday September 6th at Webb Funeral Home's new location 1005 South 800 East from 6-8 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30AM at the Preston North Stake Center.
