PRESTON, IDAHO - - JACK BUTTERFIELD
Jack Fenton Butterfield, 82, passed away at home Sunday, March 21, 2010, after a couragous battle with cancer. He was born Aug 8, 1927 to Helen Rosalina Kofoed and Eddie Fenton Butterfield in Ogden, Utah. As a young child he moved to Weston, Idaho. He was reared and educated in Preston.
After completing a tour in the Merchant Marines he returned to Preston. He met and married Billie Lou Lowe on November 25, 1949. He worked for Utah Power and Light Co. for 34 years retiring in 1983. Billie Lou passed in 1993. He then married June Sohn in December 1993 and they enjoyed 16 years together.
Jack enjoyed Golfing, camping with his family, Dutch-oven cooking, fly fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending a cold Idaho winters in Arizona. Jack was a proud member of the Elks, he was a Past Exalted Ruler as well as a Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.
Jack is survied by his wife June, children Michael (Toni) Taylorsville, NC, Scott (Janilee) Preston, ID, Fenton (Jeanie) Elko, NV, and Toni (Tracy) Harper South Weber, UT, as well as 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a step-daughter, Vicki (Scott) Martin of Preston, and a step-son, David (Linda) Sohn of Logan, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and by a step-son, Barry Sohn.
The family would like to thank Dr. Beckstead and staff, Sheri Ransom and Hospice for their loving care and Pastor Mike Butler and his wife, Cathy, for their loving concern and visits.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at noon at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 8th East, Preston. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. also at the mortuary. Military rites and interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
