Dayton, Idaho - - - Ila K. Cox
Dayton - Ila Kingsford Cox, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Franklin County Transitional Care center in Preston, Idaho. She was born on August 9, 1928 in Grace, Idaho to Kenneth O. and Julia Elizabeth Benson Kingsford. She married Jay Taylor Cox on March 15, 1949 in the Logan Temple. She graduated from Ricks College and Utah State University with a degree as a dietician.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings in the Primary Presidency, Relief Society, and was a worker in the Logan Temple. She and her husband served two missions to Jamaica and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was active in the Cub Scouts and earned the prestigious Silver Beaver award. She also worked with the 4-H program. She enjoyed decorating cakes, knitting, crocheting (she made many leprosy bandages). She had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with family doing various activities including picking huckleberries, and camping.
Ila is survived by her husband, Jay Taylor Cox, of Dayton; her children Michael (Lee) Cox, of Shippensburg, PA; Larry (Linda) Cox, of Gilbert, AZ; Dale (Laura) Cox, of Smithfield, UT; Warren (Adena) Cox, of Dayton; Glen (Bonnie) Cox, of Blackfoot, ID; Sandra (Dwain) Weeks, of Dayton; and Robyn (Donna) Cox, of Blackfoot, ID; 30 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Emma (Wayne) Wheeler, of Grace, ID; Earl (Janice) Kingsford, of Roy, UT; Lee (Jacque) Kingsford, of El Segundo, CA; Keith (Jan) Kingsford, of Baden, PA; Grant (LaVon) Kingsford, of Meridian, ID; Lowell Kingsford, of Boise, ID; and Martha (Mike) Mitchell, of Othello, WA, and by a sister-in-law, Joan Kingsford, of Grace, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother Alvin Kingsford, a grandson David Cox, and a great grandson Daniel Juhasz.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dayton Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Wes Beutler conducting. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery.
