Howard Alvis Price

Preston, Idaho - - Howard A. Price

Preston - Howard Alvis Price passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday may 18, 2010. He was born in 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, the fifth of seven children, he was always the adventurous one. He swam the Missouri River as a child and played on rafts and in caves much like Tom Sawyer. He served in the US Navy during World War II where he saw action in both the Atlantic and Pacific. It was while on leave from the Navy that he met and fell instantly in love with Clara Helen Matt who would become his lifelong sweetheart on March 27, 1946. He was the father of three daughters who he cherished, and has left a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Howard was a master carpenter, though his high school shop teacher told him he'd never be any good at it. He moved his family to Southern California where he spent the bulk of his life building industrial buildings and raising his family. As their children grew and married, Howard and Clara were very active in traveling with their family, friends, and neighbors throughout the western states in campers whenever the opportunity presented itself. After he retired, they moved to Morgan, Utah to be near their children and grandchildren. Howard and Clara then toured all of the United States in their RV and enjoyed their winters in the southern states with friends from all over the US and Canada. They considered Preston, Idaho where they have resided for the last seven years, their true home where they have been surrounded by good friends. The family wishes to thank everyone who has been such good support and comfort to Howard and Clara as his health has deteriorated.

Howard is survived by his sweet wife Clara, of Preston; daughters Diana (Kenneth) Olsen, Sherry (James) Ashton, and Vickie (Ray) Carter, grandchildren Scott (Deborah) Whitten, Rebecca (Rudy) Falcon, Lonnie (Melissa) Ashton, John (Coca) Ashton, Christopher (Kristi) Carter, Kimberli Jensen, Casie Carter, Katie (Brett) Barrera, Kyla Carter, Nicholas Carter, and Tyler Carter, his great grandchildren, great-great grandson, and one brother William (Billy) Price. He was preceded in death by his parents Logan and Margaret Price, and his siblings, Alice Pettet, Dorothy Zappa, Wanda Peterson, James Price, and Jackie Price.
