MINK CREEK, IDAHO - - H. DALE LARSEN
MINK CREEK- Howard Dale Larsen, 93, passed away on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born Feb. 23, 1917, in Logan, Utah, the first child born to Nevada Atlantic and Mary Katherine Birch Larsen.
He graduated from Preston High School in 1935. On Nov. 20, 1940, he married Elna Skidmore Bright in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three daughters and two sons. She passed away on Feb. 18, 1967. Dale married Faye Beth Holland Bessinger on Aug. 15, 1967 in Salt Lake City, which brought five more sons into his life.
He worked most of his life on the family farm in Mink Creek. He was a school bus driver for many years and he also worked at Gossner Foods. After retiring, he spent many years as a snowbird traveling between his homes in Mink Creek and Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed golfing and making latch hook rugs earning blue ribbons in the county fair. He also enjoyed riding his peddle bike and gardening. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Faye B. Larsen of Preston, Idaho; his children, Elna Joan (Norm) Hofer of Eatonville, Washington; LaNae B. (Ray) Orbin of Lehi, Utah; Rodney Dale (Sharon) Larsen of Benson, Utah; Connie Marie Nish of Logan, Utah; David B. (Elizabeth) Larsen of Mink Creek; Richard Bessinger of Pinetop, Arizona; Robert (Kathy) Bessinger of Honeyville, Utah; and Garry (Pat) Bessinger of Preston, Idaho; his sisters, Melba (Allen) Richmond of Millville, Utah; Vernetta (Ray) Sant of Treasureton, Idaho; his brother, Milton (Lorraine) Larsen of Ogden, Utah; fifty-one grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elna; and by two stepsons, Clyde and Max Bessinger.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at 12:00 noon in the Mink Creek Idaho LDS Church. Friends may call Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
