Helena Page

September 28, 1924 — August 19, 2017

Helena Page

Helena Murri Page was born on September 28, 1924 in Twin Groves, Idaho to John Henry and Luella Panter Murri.  She was married to Verl Page on July 17, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  She passed away on August 19, 2017 in Holliday, Utah.  Helena loved nothing more than being with her family.  She enjoyed going to all the baby blessings, baptisms, ordinations, weddings, sealings and concerts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Music was always important to her.  She provided piano and band instruction for her children and immensely enjoyed listening to them practice and play duets.  She even composed music to a poem and participated in a General Conference choir.  She loved the opportunity to travel; visiting Branson, MO, Yellowstone, California, Colorado, Oregon, Mt. Rushmore and more.  One trip that stands out the most is when she and her sweetheart celebrated their 50th anniversary by going on a church history tour.  Her lifetime of service included many church callings (Stake Primary, Chorister, Librarian, Relief Society) and community service (PTA, Farm Bureau, historian for the DAR, and DUP company board).  Her great passion was always family history.  She wrote several histories of people and communities.  She loved researching and she shared that with anyone who would listen (or not).  Education was also important to Helena.  She earned an Associate’s Degree and Teaching Certificate from Ricks College and her Bachelor’s Degree from Utah State University.

She is preceded in death by her sweetheart of nearly 70 years, Verl; by her parents; brothers, Cyril Jean, Lynford, Herbert and Maurice; sisters, Esther, Vera, Ina Mae; by a son-in-law, Ron; by a daughter-in-law, Dixie; and by two grandsons, Bryce and Skyelar.  She is survived by her seven children: Shalene, Marva (Ned), Clyde (Terri), Janette, Brett (Rosaline), Verna (Gordon) and Kelly (Cathy); by 39 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and counting; by a sister, Leda; sisters-in-law, Thelma (Argel), Hazel and Hilda; and by many nieces and nephews.

Thanks to children Shalene, Clyde and Verna for extended care of our mother; the staff at Beehive House Assisted Living and OneCare Hospice nurses, Joyce T. and Stefanie L.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Family History Fund or Missionary Fund at www.ldsphilanthropies.org
