Weston, Idaho - - - - Hedvig B. Reeder

Weston - Hedvig Buttars Reeder, formerly of Weston, Idaho, passed away at the Franklin County Nursing Home on September 25th, 2009. Hedvig was born in Clarkston, Utah, November 10, 1914, the oldest of five children born to Melvin Henry and Agnes Jardine Buttars. The family moved to Cornish, Utah, in 1918 where Hedvig lived until her marriage to Weldon R. Reeder in the Logan Temple. She graduated from Cornish Elementary, North Cache High School and Utah State University with a degree in home economics. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the Spurs Service Organization.

Hedvig and Weldon started building their home on the family farm in Weston shortly after they were married and farmed their land until Weldon's death in 1976. Hedvig remained in the family home until after her 90th birthday when ill health and the loss of her eyesight forced her to move first to assisted living in Preston and two years ago into the nursing home.

Hedvig was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many church callings during her life time. She enjoyed singing in the choir, reading, gardening and sewing for herself and her family. She loved to welcome visitors at the family home and always had a treat on hand for them.

Hedvig is survived by her four children, Rebecca Cluff of Yakima, WA; Steven (Karen) Reeder of Thatcher, ID; Marvin (Cindy) Reeder of Hyrum, UT; and Richard (Sue) Reeder of Dayton, ID; 16 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Asael and Chester Buttars of Logan, UT; and her sister Ruby Chadwick of Odessa, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Weldon in 1976, her son-in-law Charles Cluff in 2000, one brother Boyd Buttars in 1996 and two infant grandchildren, Reese Cluff and Suzann Reeder.

Hedvig lived through many trying times but maintained her faith and courage to endure to the end. She set a good example and high expectations for her family members to follow. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. The family extends our heart-felt thanks to the staff at the Franklin County Nursing facility for the care and love given to our mother.

Funeral services will be held at the Weston 1st Ward Chapel on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 12:00 noon with Bishop Blaine Buttars conducting. A viewing will be held at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida in Preston on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. and at the Weston chapel from 10:30 - 11:30 prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Hyde Park Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
