Preston, Idaho - - - Harvey H. Rasmussen
Preston - Harvey Hans Rasmussen, 96, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. He was born March 20, 1912 (the year of the Titanic) in Preston, Idaho to James Peter and Sarah Jensen Rasmussen. The family later moved to Cedarville, in Weston Canyon, Idaho where they farmed wheat and raised sheep. Harvey married Ramona Talbot on September 14, 1938 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Harvey had unique talents and abilities in mechanical engineering and design. He designed and constructed a number of projects in the field of agriculture. Harvey was also involved in the trucking industry for 30 years. He hauled hay to dairy farms and cattle ranches in southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and northern Utah. Harvey was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting with his boys and never missed a deer with his 300 H&H magnum that he liked so much. He was a member of the LDS Church and was proud to support all three of his children on missions.
He is survived by his two sons, Maynard (Helen) Rasmussen, of West Haven, UT; and Dallen (LuAnne) Rasmussen, of Preston; a daughter Eilene Rasmussen, of Preston; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and four sisters Inez Fitzjarrald, of Pocatello, ID; Amy (Herb) Rasmussen, West Valley, UT; Karma (John F.) Bersee, of Bowling Green, OH; and Verdell (Bill) Hodnett, of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ramona, three brothers, Floyd, Dewey and Glen Rasmussen, and two sisters Marie Rasmussen, and Eveleen (Emil Jr.) Albrect.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East 1st South with Bishop Jason Travis conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
