RICHMOND, UTAH - - GUELDA C. CLAYSON
RICHMOND- Guelda Choules Clayson, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned home to her Father in Heaven on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. She was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Fairview, Idaho, to Oliver James and Myrtle Thompson Choules. She had one older brother and four younger sisters.
She attended grade school in Fairview, graduated from Preston High School and the University of Idaho. She taught school for 3 years. On June 30, 1944, she married Keith Edward Clayson in Westerley, Rhode Island where he was stationed in the Navy. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on July 6, 1945.
She is the mother of seven children and she also raised her two young grandsons after their parents were involved in a fatal car accident. Keith preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as ward Relief Society President three times, Stake Primary President and as a Logan Temple worker as well as many other callings. Her life was an example of faith, dedication and service. She was a member of the DUP as well as the Pickwick Book Club. She enjoyed the women in her friendship club. She enjoyed traveling and reading. She was an avid Aggie fan and loved following the Utah Jazz. She was dedicated to her family and cultivated a relationship with each member.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Janet Gailey; sons-in-law, Bill Ridge, Wendell Gailey and Steve Morris; three grandsons, Jeff Merrill, Darin Gailey and Nicholas Hull. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Max Choules, and sisters, Treva Hall and Joyce Bowles. She is survived by her children, Judie Ridge of Laguna Niguel, California; Beverly Morris of Weston, Idaho; Debra and Jim Hull of Cub River, Idaho; Jill and Doug O'Keefe of Laguna Niguel, Calif; Edward and Tami Clayson of Mapleton, Utah; and Patricia& Kevin Forsgren of Richmond, Utah; grandsons, Mike and Patty Gailey of Albion, Idaho; Chris and Kim Gailey of Declo, Idaho; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren with four more expected this winter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 12 Noon in the Richmond Utah Stake Center, 135 W. Main, Richmond. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, Idaho, and Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Fairview, Idaho Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
