Grace Mattson

Grace Barnes Mattson passed away peacefully February 13, 2016 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born July 7, 1931, in Downey, Idaho to Isaac Wilford  and Elizabeth Mary Wise Barnes. She married Robert J Mattson on February 25, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple.  

Grace enjoyed camping, picking huckleberries, crocheting afghans, doing embroidery, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, reading and especially having her family together. She looked forward to having a family gathering the day before Easter and on Christmas day.  She enjoyed serving in the church especially in compassionate service. She loved visiting with the people in the ward.  She held various jobs during her lifetime including J.C. Penney, Wycoff and Presto. For many years she helped sell rodeo tickets for the Preston rodeo.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, and four daughters and their husbands: Mary Beth and Terry Timothy of Preston, Laurie and Curtis Daley of Preston, Carolyn and Claine Jensen of Franklin  and Annette and Zan Nash of Preston.  She has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild with one more on the way.  She is survived by a brother-in-law Reed Westover.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a step mother, Zina Burrup Barnes, a sister Gwen (Glen) Austin, a sister Gladys Westover and 3 infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st South, in Preston.  Friends and family may call at Webb Funeral Home 1005 S. 800 E., Preston, on Thursday, February 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be at the Paris, Idaho cemetery at approximately 3 p.m.
