San Ramon, CA - - Gloria T. Heiner
San Ramon - Gloria, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, daughter, and sister, passed away in San Ramon, California, on August 24, 2013, at the age of 74. She was born in Oxnard, California, Ventura County, on November 11, 1938. She was the daughter of Mary Minta Goodman Thompson and Walter Iver Thompson.
Gloria and her parents lived for a brief time in California before moving to Richmond, Utah, where she spent her early years. She graduated from North Cache High School in May, 1956. During her senior year she served as the editor of Polaris, the school yearbook. In June, 1960, she graduated from Utah State University in Secretarial Sciences with a minor in Economics. As a senior at Utah State, she served as student body secretary, and at the graduation ceremony she received the Robin's Award as Woman of the Year. Gloria was an educator by trade and was an instructor at Heald Business College and Sacramento City College in the Sacramento area over a 25-year period.
She was married to James Dee Heiner in the Logan Temple on September 16, 1960. Husband, Jim, died on April 9, 1988, at the age of 51. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Iver Thompson, her husband, James Dee Heiner, and her brother-in-law, Bruce K. Thompson. She is survived by her mother Mary Minta Thompson, Logan, UT; sister, Barbara Jo (Jim Dorigatti), North Salt Lake City, UT; brother Walter Jay (LouJean) Thompson, Layton, UT; daughter, Brenda (David Wilbur), American Fork, UT; son, David (Jacqueline Jones) Heiner, Danville, CA; son, Kent Heiner, Sacramento, CA; daughter, Alicia (Bryce Sutton) San Ramon, CA; and son, Kurt Heiner, Sacramento, CA. She has 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild to honor her name.
Graveside services will be held at the Richmond, Utah Cemetery, on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
