Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at FCMC transitional care unit in Preston, Idaho on November 26, 2024 surrounded by the love of his children as he was reunited with his sweetheart. He was born May 14, 1939 in Preston, Idaho, to Fremon J. and Ada Schow Jepsen. He graduated from Preston High School. He served a three-year LDS mission in Southern Germany. After graduating from Utah State University, he was selected for Air Force pilot training in Lubbock, TX.
He married his sweetheart, Betty Jo Nelson on September 14, 1962 in the Logan, Utah temple. Together they moved to TX with a follow- on assignment with the Air Force to Ramstein, Germany. While there they had many wonderful European adventures and made life-long friends.
They settled and raised their family in Pleasant View, Utah where Glen was assigned to the 419th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Air Force Reserve at Hill Air Force Base. He achieved the rank of Colonel and was deputy commander of the 419th. Glen was a skilled pilot in several high performance aircraft, finishing his career as an instructor pilot in the F-16.
After his retirement he continued his aviation career as a safety officer for the Royal Saudi Air Force and became a certified scuba diver in the Red Sea.
He and Betty Jo returned to Pleasant View and left to serve a LDS mission for two years in Ukraine. While there he helped many members prepare to attend the Dresden Temple.
As a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many capacities and leadership roles on a ward and stake level. For the past 10 years he loved serving as a temple sealer in the Logan UT Temple. He and Betty Jo enjoyed serving in the temple together and spending their retirement in Mink Creek with good friends and family. They were both very involved in their ward and community.
Some of his favorite things to do were traveling around the world to visit with his children and grandchildren sharing his handyman skills. He was a regular at the local gym, keeping himself strong and fit. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his brothers, sons and grandchildren. His fishing holes on Mink Creek brought him great joy!
Later in life one of his greatest joys was being grandpa and he excelled at it. Although he will be greatly missed, his influence and example will endure.
He is survived by four children, Kerry (Melinda) Jepsen, Mink Creek, ID, Jana (Travis Huff/Matthew Musgrave), Butte MT, Jill (Mark) Neitz, Stettler, AB, Canada and Kyle (Stacy) Jepsen, Dallas, TX. Four siblings, Bruce Jepsen, Kirkland, WA, Dan (Jean) Jepsen, Bountiful, UT, Marilyn (Robert) Godfrey, Casa Grande, AZ, JoAnn (Kevin) Auger, Woodland Hills, UT. Nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Betty Jo, and one grandson and one son in-law.
The family would like to thank FCMC TCU staff for the gentle and thoughtful care that they gave to Glen during his last months.
