Preston - George Glen Carter, 83, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his home in Preston, Idaho. He was born on April 14, 1927 in Preston Idaho to George Washington and Ruby Fenneretta Carter. He married Norma Jean Smith on September 25, 1982 in Elko, Nevada. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.

Glen was a member of the Cache Valley Cutter Association and enjoyed horses and horse racing. He also trained horses. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He loved being outdoors especially fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family and liked to travel. He particularly enjoyed going to Alaska. He was a mechanic and worked at Carter Brothers for many years. He was also an active member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife Jean Carter, of Preston, her children Lynn (Rex) Jackson, of Chipley, FL; Cindy (Dee) Swainston, of Preston; Willie (Tammy) Johnson, of Westville, FL; and Steve (Barbra) Johnson, of Preston, ID; 13 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; a sister Faye (Roy) Olsen, of Preston; and two brothers Lyle (Darlene) Carter, of Preston; and Paul (Linda) Carter, of Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Gary Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston South Stake Center with Bishop Quinn Corbridge conducting. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new location 1005 South 800 East in Preston and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the stake center.
