Our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Francine Bingham Pitcher, passed away Saturday June 10th at the Franklin County Nursing Home, in Preston Idaho, at the age of 97. Mother was born April, 2 1920 in Cornish Utah to Lewis and Ada Luella Kofoed Bingham. Mother was raised in Weston, Idaho with 8 brothers and sisters; she attended Westside High School where she was active in competitive basketball and track. She met the love of her life, J Marcell Pitcher, at a dance in Preston, and they danced through 75 years together. She waited for him to serve a mission to Denmark, and as the war broke out he served the rest of his mission in West Virginia. While she waited faithfully for his return, she found a job as a nanny and house keeper, for a wealthy Colonel and his family in Salt Lake City. Upon dads return they were married in the Logan LDS Temple, April 23, 1940. They lived in Cornish most of their married life, and were the proud parents of five boys and one girl: John Dyer (Hilary)Pitcher Cornish Utah, Dawn (Kay)Penrod of Chubbuck, Idaho, Rex Lewis (Jane) Pitcher of Preston, Idaho, Keith Harvey (Tamara) Pitcher of Cornish, Utah, Dan Bingham (Kristine) of Clearfield, Utah, and Bart Marcell (Joyce)Pitcher of Preston, Idaho. Mother loved each of us, and with her gentle care and warm acceptance of whom each was as an individual, she had a way of making each child and grandchild feel special. Mother and Dad had many fun experiences together; they would “snowbird” to Mexico for the winter months and home when it was “Spring Time in The Rockies” They also served an LDS Mission to Pennsylvania. Mother was a great cook, and candy maker, passing down a legacy of cherished family recipes; she was a fun card player, with vitality for life, always serving others, and a love and devotion for family that cannot be matched.
Mother was preceded in death by her Husband, J Marcell Pitcher, Son, Keith Harvey Pitcher, grandson, Shane Bart Pitcher; siblings, Sterling Bingham, Vereen Bingham, Richard Bingham, Lois Bodily, Erma Jensen, Beverly Mitton, and Aileen Brown. Her living legacy includes 5 of her 6 children, one sister Gloria (LaVar) Wood, 20 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 20 Great-Great grandchildren.
