LEWISTON, UTAH - - FLORENCE WHEELER
LEWISTON- Florence Hansen Wheeler, 84, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Preston, Idaho. She was born June 23, 1926, in Smithfield, Utah, the ninth child of John and Sena Holjeson Hansen. She grew up on the family farm in Smithfield, Utah. She attended schools in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School in 1944.
She married Ray H. Wheeler on March 5, 1946, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Lewiston where they farmed and raised beef cattle. She enjoyed making her house into a warm, wonderful, welcoming home. Everyone was always welcome to stay and enjoy a delicious meal with her and Ray.
Florence was an active member of the Lewiston 2nd Ward having served in several positions in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society Organizations. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in her garden, oil painting and doing family history. She participated in the restoration of the George Walton and Hannah Humphreys Wheeler cabin which is listed in the registry of the Utah Historical Society.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Marsha (Ron) Hymas of Hyde Park, Utah; Regan (Jonette) Wheeler of Lewiston; Cindy (Rick) Anderson of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren, Travis Hymas, Michelle (Brett) Hansen, Colby (MIndi) Wheeler, Nick (Janell) Wheeler, Curt (Kali) Wheeler, Brady (Stasha) Wheeler, Mysti (Jason) Kocher, and Kasei Anderson; great-grandchildren, Carter and Adisyn Hansen, Jack and Gavin Wheeler, and Landon, Allison, Colin and Liam Wheeler; a sister, Hilda Ferguson, two brothers, Roland (Hazel) Hansen and Lyman Hansen; four sisters-in-law, Bernice Hansen, Gretta Hansen, Donna Wheeler, Carma Hamp; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Venus Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray H. Wheeler, her parents, a twin brother, Lawrence Hansen, a sister and brother-in-law, Verda and Clarence Hugie; two brothers, Ralph and Elmer Hansen; a sister and brother-in-law, Afton and Marion Aller; a brother-in-law, Russell Ferguson; a sister-in-law, Vella Hansen; her parents-in-law, Lester and Ruby Wheeler; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard Wheeler, Glen Wheeler, Thelma Wheeler Wood Carter, Velma Wheeler, Harvey Wood, Clyde Carter and Warren Hamp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewiston 2nd Ward Chapel, 10 South 1600 West, Lewiston, with Bishop Kent Buttars conducting. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Lewiston and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Lewiston Cemetery.
