Preston, Idaho - - - Faye P. Carlson
Preston - Faye Maxine Peterson Carlson, 87, passed away at the Franklin County Nursing Home on Friday, July 10, 2009. She was born May 26, 1922 in Grace, Idaho to Hyrum Smith and Flora Eve Perry Peterson. Fay grew up in Grace and graduated from Grace High School.
After High School she worked for Merrill's Confection in Preston. She later moved to Salt Lake City and worked for Eitel McCullough Inc. This was a defense manufacturing plant where she worked in support of the war effort. Faye returned to Preston where she met the love of her life Glenn Harten Carlson at a dance. They were married November 23, 1946. Faye and Glenn made their home in Preston where they raised their young family. On March 1, 1957 Faye and Glenn took their family to the Logan Temple where they were sealed together with their children for time and all eternity.
Faye loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a life-long faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found comfort in reading the Book of Mormon and would bear testimony about it's truthfulness to others who came by her home. Faye had many church callings during her life and she especially loved teaching children. She was the first Den Mother in the Preston 2nd Ward where she taught the Cub Scouts for 12 years along side her husband who was the Scout Master for 15 years.
She loved her country and did her part to support the war effort during World War II. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years. She loved doing genealogy work and compiled large volumes o f Family History. She enjoyed sewing and doing crafts including crocheting, embroidering, doing art work, and making ceramics.
Fay is survived by her five children, Dennis Carlson, of Ogden, UT; Cherie (David) Stevenson, of Logan, UT; Gary (Dixie) Carlson, of Preston; Phillip Carlson, of West Valley, UT; Berverly (Morris) Jackson, of Centerville, UT; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one brother Earl (Cheryl) Peterson, of Idaho Falls, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, and a sister Beverly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 East 1st South in Preston with President Doug Roper conducting. Friends may call Tuesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
