Swan Lake - Eugene "Gene" Sorensen passed away peacefully at his home in Swan Lake on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He had been suffering from numerous health problems for the past year. Gene was born on April 7, 1927 in Swan Lake, Idaho to Peter Christian Sorensen and Carra Louise Whitt. He was the youngest of 10 children. Gene married Barbara Bosen on January 26, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. They became the proud parents of two daughters, Andrea and Lynda.

He attended elementary school in Swan Lake and high school in Downey, Idaho where he was a member of the Downey Bulldogs basketball team. Gene Served in the US Army from September 1950 to September 1952. After being discharged from the army he returned to Swan Lake to work on the family farm. He enjoyed farming, ranching, and being in the outdoors. He especially liked hunting, fishing, and going on family picnics.

Gene is survived by his wife Barbara, and their two daughters Andrea (Glen) Wright, of Idaho Falls, ID; and Lynda (David) Jones of Providence, UT; four grandsons Brian Wright, David, Christopher, and Nicholas Jones, and one great granddaughter Destinee Wright. He is also survived by his brother Douglas Sorensen of Swan Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Kenneth, Woodrow, Harvey, and Russell, and four sisters Lucile, Lorraine, Margaret, and Louise.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Saturday from 12:00-12:45 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Swan Lake Cemetery.
