Etta LaRue Snyder Morrison

Franklin, Idaho - - - Etta S. Morrison

Franklin - Etta LaRue Snyder Morrison, 83, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Preston, Idaho. She was born January 3, 1927 in Preston, Idaho to Melvin and Serena Owens Snyder. Joseph Dilworth Morrison Sr., danced his way into her life and they married June 16, 1944 in Preston.

In her younger days, LaRue enjoyed dancing - especially at the Persianna. She also wrote many short stories and poems to share with her family and friends. Bird watching and embroidery were favorite pastimes. She always had a song in her heart and on her lips, with the LDS hymns becoming increasingly comforting to her as she aged. She was a member of the DUP and was a faithful visiting teacher. She liked sharing histories of family and the community. She loved to cook, and did much of it in the process of raising 10 kids and being married 66 years. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was cherished. Her sweet and gently spirit will be missed by us all.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dilworth Morrison, Sr. of Franklin; four sons and six daughters, Tonna (Dell) Rawlins, of Cove, UT; Evelyn (Larry) Young, of Franklin; Joseph D. (Cindy) Morrison, Jr. of Montpelier, ID; Barbara (Darwin) Goodsell, of Franklin; Melvin (Kristen) Morrison, of Franklin; Betty (Charlie) Gentry, of Soda Springs, ID; Greg (JoBeth) Morrison, of Franklin; Sherry (Curtis) Pitcher, of Grace, ID; Brent (Jamie) Morrison, of Franklin; and Beth (Trini) Creger, of Lewiston, ID; 41 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren, and a sister Carmen Snyder of Smithfield, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother Owen Snyder and a sister Carol Snyder Morgan.
