PRESTON, IDAHO - - VIOLET WEEKS
PRESTON- Ethel Violet Reeder Weeks, 88, passed away July 14, 2010, with her family by her side at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston. She was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Treasureton, Idaho, to John Thomas Reeder and Bessie Cole Reeder. She remained in Treasureton throughout her grade school years, before moving from her family home to Downey, Idaho to continue her education in high school.
On Sept. 12, 1939, she married Lealand Weeks in the Logan Temple. They started their family in Lewiston, Utah and Trenton, Utah, before settling in Preston after purchasing farm ground where they raised six children.
Her interests included family, gardening, sewing, cooking and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members and others. She loved growing roses and always kept a large garden. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds, wild birds, and wild flowers. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, supporting her children at rodeos, fairs and especially horse races and chariot races. Her family and everyone who knew her will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her sons and daughter, Lawrence (Angela) Weeks, of Preston; , Deloroes (W. Kent) Hobbs, of Preston, Grant (Bernice) Weeks, of Malad, ID; T. Boyd (Betty) Weeks, of Preston; Daryl (Sue) Weeks, of Preston; and L. Tim (Pamela) Weeks,of Preston; 32 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, siblings, Erma Walker of Delta, Utah; John Thomas (Leora) Reeder of Tooele, Utah; Francis Butler of Idaho Falls; Neale (Marie) Reeder of Malad, Idaho; Nedra Hodges of Bountiful, Utah; Vernon (Lorna) Reeder of Spanish Fork, Utah; Alice (Cliff) Johnson of Treasureton, Idaho; a sister-in-law, Naretta Reeder of Preston; and a sister-in-law Millie Spackman, of Trenton, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, George c. Reeder, three grandchildren, Richard Lee Weeks, Don Weeks, Cherie Lee Weeks and three half-sisters, Vera Eliza, Jane Ambrosia (Amber) and Maggie Ruth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 100 S., Preston, with Bishop Quinn Corbridge conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, and Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the stake center.
